Addiction is not only about the voluminous issues experienced by the addict. Like ripples in a pond, addiction affects everything—and everyone. Nothing remains untouched as the disease, like a virulent plague, destroys relationships, friendships, employment, and marriages. Don’t believe us ?
According to a recent article by CNN: “Drugs now kill more people than cars and guns. Drugs are the leading cause of accidental death in this country."
(Source figures provided by the CDC from number of deaths from drug poisoning vs. other causes, 1999-2014)
Too many of us have experienced the agony and hopelessness of addiction first-hand. Our combined hope and goal with “Ruined Wings” is to educate our culture on the pitfalls of becoming entrenched in drugs and the inevitable disastrous outcome once a person becomes an addict.
