Plot Summary: Seventeen-year-old Callie Novak is on the cusp of changing her life as she warms up for the final heat in the Women's 1600-meter High School Ski competition. While she sets a new state record, her family's worst nightmare is just beginning. When tragedy strikes the Novak family, every listener will feel the pain of grief, the perils of drug abuse, the despair that leads to a shocking downward spiral, and the strength that is needed to overcome addiction.
Addiction is not only about the voluminous issues experienced by the addict. Like ripples in a pond, addiction affects everything—and everyone. Nothing remains untouched as the disease, like a virulent plague, destroys relationships, friendships, employment, and marriages.
Too many of us have experienced the agony and hopelessness of addiction first-hand. Our combined hope and goal with “Ruined Wings” is to educate our culture on the pitfalls of becoming entrenched in drugs and the inevitable disastrous outcome once a person becomes an addict.
